Tucson Feb 2017

After a 2 week taste of Tucson last year, we rented a house for Feb and drove to Tucson from Baltimore, taking nearly 2 weeks to get there, with long stops in Roanoke (Taubman Museum), Knoxville (Mus of Art), Nashville (Frist Mus), Memphis (Dixon Mus, Essee Purse, Metal Mus), Dallas (Fort Worth museums), and El Paso (Mus of Art) with music venues, BBQ, and lots of soft ice cream along the way. Highlights were 3 nights in Dallas with nephew Darren and his family, the Bluebird Cafe show in Nashville, and the Blackbird Bakery in Bristol TN.

The month of Feb passed too quickly. Lynne and her friend, Barbara from Baltimore, spent the first 5 days at the Gem Show, the largest in the US; Niki and her family flew in mid-month, and we compressed all that we could in those 5 days (Adam had rented a bike and we did the 3 best rides in Tucson--the climb up Mt. Lemmon, the 55 mi paved Loop, and the loop in the Sequaro National Park East); we drove to Scottsdale with an old high school friend of Stan to have dinner with 3 more friends from those long ago days, 2 now living in Scottsdale and one visiting.

The trip back was faster by a week, but we stopped in St. Louis for 2 nights to see family and friends, and stayed overnight in Indianapolis with another high school friend. We had driven 7K miles round trip and local Tucson driving.

We were able to find a really nice rental house with a great view of the mountains for 3 months next year (Jan 1 to Mar 31).
