Bike Ride in the UK Aug 2018 Land's End to John O'Groat

After a week sightseeing in London, I met 11 others in Land's End, the furthest southern tip of England and left for a 22 day bike ride through England, Wales, and Scotland to the furthest northern tip of Scotland at John O'Groat, 1000 miles of biking, 57,000 ft of climbing, with just one rest day. Skedaddle, a British biking company (I always try to use a company of the country) provided seasoned guides; one had done the trip 10 times. One guide drove the sag wagon and the other biked with us, usually at the back, but was never intrusive. The company took care of hotels, 'tea' stops a couple of times a day, and often an elaborate picnic spread at lunch time on the road.

The weather turned cold as we biked further north, and there were several days of rain from the time we got on the bike until we reached the hotel.

We crossed that bridge when we got to it.

The roads went on and on.

One more beautiful stream. I could not snap them all.

The group of 12 plus 3 guides at John O'Groat, the top of Scotland.

Glad to be at the end.

There was 1 rider from Australia, 1 from New Zealand, 1 from Ireland, 4 from the US, and the rest from England and Scotland. If this were an American company, they would most likely all be from the US, and I would have missed the diverse views and backgrounds on politics, books, biking, and especially, food and beer.

Before the reader gets too impressed with my prowess and energy, I will admit that I rented an eBike, which provided just the extra boast on hills and long days (all days were 50-70 miles, on the bike at 9 and off about 6 hours later) to allow me to finish the day less than exhausted. Plenty of pedaling was still required; an eBike is not a scooter.
