Tucson 2020 Winter and then Covid-19

More on a whim, and not because we knew what was coming, we looked at some condos and houses in mid-Jan and came across a house too nice to pass up. We closed in late Feb and moved in towards the end of March from our winter rental. We planned to stay in the new house for a few days to see that it was ready to sit by itself for the nine months until we returned. We decided it was safer to stay, rather than drive back to Baltimore where we would have trouble isolating ourselves. The condos we own in Baltimore are in a mi
d-rise with 56 others; the units cannot be isolated as we share hallways, elevators, a mail room, and lobby, and some owners have care givers who come into the building.

Staying in Tucson was eased as the previous owners sold everything to us, including the art works (the wife is a skilled watercolorist), the furniture, and even the dishes.

The weather is still perfect, as of this writing in late April, and I bike several days a week, sometimes on a 135 mi system, The Loop, of paved bike roads going through the saguaro
forests, and along dry river beds. The path tunnels under the streets so it is quite safe. I do sections of Mt. Lemmon, one of the seven best bike rides in the US, going up 27 mi at about a 4-5% grade, not easy but not impossible.

Lynne is busy with some assignments, work on her book on teenage sleep issues and later school start times.

Tucson is about 2500 ft above sea level, an ideal place for Saguaro.

Jan 3, 2021: Cool ride for Tucson, starting off at 40 deg at 9 am, but low temps mean little as the sun is always bright. 70s by noon.

32 mi and 1700 ft climb.
